Xiaomi hosted an event in China today to announce several products, including RedmiBook laptops and a Redmi smart TV. At the same event, the brand has announced its latest Redmi smartphones, the Redmi 10X 5G, and 10X Pro 5G. Notably, the handsets are the first to come powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 820 SoC, which is an affordable 5G-enabled processor. The key highlights of the devices include 5G connectivity, an in-display fingerprint sensor, quad cameras, and a beefy 5,020mAh battery. Along with the Redmi 10X and 10X Pro 5G smartphones, the company has also unveiled a 4G variant of the Redmi 10X 5G. Instead of the Dimensity 820, the Redmi 10X 4G comes powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset.

The Redmi 10X 5G and Redmi 10X Pro 5G both have pretty much the same specifications. They both feature a 6.57-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with 2,400×1,080p resolution, HDR 10+, 20:9 aspect ratio, 180Hz touch sampling rate, and 60Hz refresh rate. There is an in-display fingerprint scanner for security. The phones are powered by an octa-core 2.6GHz MediaTek Dimensity 820 chipset, aided by Mali-G57 GPU, liquid cooling tech, and Mi Game Turbo 2.0. The chipset has integrated a 5G modem with support for high-speed internet on both SIMs. Software-wise, the phones run Android 10-based MIUI 12 that brings new Always-on-Display themes and SuperWallapers features, among other things. The Redmi 10X series is also IP53-certified for water- and dust-resistance.

The notable differences between the two smartphones are cameras and fast-charging technology. The Redmi 10X Pro 5G has quad-rear cameras that consist of 48MP primary sensor, 8MP 119-degree wide-angle lens, 8MP telephoto lens with OIS, and 30x zoom, and, finally, a 5MP macro lens. For selfies and video calling, the device has a 20MP shooter in the waterdrop notch atop the display. The Redmi 10X Pro is equipped with a 4,520mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The vanilla Redmi 10X 5G, on the other hand, features triple rear cameras with 48MP primary sensor, 8MP wide-angle sensor, and 2MP macro sensor. The front camera of the phone has been downgraded to a 16MP sensor from 20MP. A 4,520mAh battery powers the entire setup of the phone as well, but it’s backed by 22.5W fast charging tech.
