OPPO added a couple of new smartphones to the Reno3 series – Reno3 and Reno3 Pro. Both devices support the 5G network and are equipped with quad rear cameras. The OPPO Reno3 is the first phone powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1000L 5G Chipset, while the OPPO Reno3 Pro takes power from the Snapdragon 765G SoC. The OPPO Reno3 is priced at CNY3, 999 ($485) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM, while the high-end variant 12GB + 128GB costs 3, 699 ($530). According to the company, the phone will go on sale in China from December 31, but there is no information on its availability in other countries.

On the other hand, the Reno3 Pro has a sole version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage for CNY3, 999 ($570) that will be available for purchase from December 31 (in China), while the 12GB + 256GB ($640) is coming on January 10. Aside from China, it will arrive in international markets, including India and UAE at the end of January (expectedly). Furthermore, OPPO has also unveiled Reno3 Pro Pantone 2020 that comes in Classic Blue color (color of 2020).

OPPO Reno3 and Reno3 Pro differences and details

Both mobile phones feature a 6.5 inches AMOLED display, but Reno3 has a water-drop notch design instead of a Reno3 Pro’s punch-hole camera mechanism. There is no option for refresh rate on Reno3, whereas the Reno3 Pro has a 90Hz refresh rate. One interesting difference is – the Reno3 Pro has a curved display (180Hz touch detection rate for less lag and better gaming experience), while the Reno3 offers flat display. Along with 159.4 x 72.4 x 7.7 mm dimension the Reno3 Pro offers 88.4% screen-to-body ratio (405 PPI density), while Reno3 has 84.2% screen-to-body ratio and measures 160.2 x 73.3 x 8 mm. Other highlights of the phones are - both run ColorOS 7 based on the top of Android 10 OS. For optics comparison, the standard version and pro variant have vertically shaped quad-camera setup, but sensors are different. The Reno3 has a 64MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro shooter, and a 2MP black and white sensor. You don’t get optical zoom on the Reno3 because it skips the telephoto camera. On the other hand, the OPPO Reno3 Pro’s quad-camera setup offers a 48MP Sony IMX586 main sensor, a 13MP telephoto sensor that supports 5X hybrid optical zoom, an 8MP wide-angle lens with 116-degree field of view and a 2MP black and white shooter. Along with Reno3 and Reno3 Pro, we can record 4k videos at 30fps as well as FHD videos at 30fps and 60fps.

For capturing selfies, both handsets have a 32MP selfie sensor with f/2.0 apertures and 0.8µm pixels. You can record FHD videos at 30fps, and there is also an HDR feature. Under the hood, the standard Reno3 is powered by MediaTek 1000L 5G Chipset constructed on a 7nm Octa-core processor, while the Reno3 Pro fueled by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G (7nm) SoC. and OPPO said that the fingerprint recognition area has increased by 5mm to 54mm. Furthermore, both mobile phones pack 4,025 mAh batteries that support up to 30W for fast charging (VOOC Flash Charge 4.0).
