Introduction
Realme has officially launched its new flagship model X3 SuperZoom. The model, like other representatives of this series, makes the main bet on the design and the capabilities of the camera. As the name implies, the main advantage of the Quad-camera smartphone is the possibility of optical and digital zoom. An 8-megapixel periscope camera with optical image stabilization provides 5x optical and 60x hybrid zoom, thereby expanding the capabilities of the 64-megapixel main sensor and the 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor (capture angle 115 degrees). The latest flagship – Realme X3 SuperZoom comes with a Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC and 120Hz display. The Realme X3 SuperZoom is on pre-order starting today (26-May) and will go on its first sale on June 2 at 10 AM. It comes in Glacier Blue and Arctic White in a single 12/256GB configuration, priced €499 ($545). It's available through realme.com, Amazon, and other retail partners.
Design and Display
Design-wise, the Realme X3 SuperZoom looks quite similar to the X50 5G, which launched in China at the beginning of the year. It has a double punch-hole in the top left corner of the screen and a bit of bezel at the bottom. The back is home to quad rear cameras arranged vertically in the same housing. The back is covered in 3D quad-curved glass with an anti-glare and anti-fingerprint finish. You will be able to pick up the phone in Arctic White and Glacier Blue. The Realme X3 SuperZoom has a 6.6-inch 2400 x 1080 screen with a 120Hz refresh rate for an ultrasmooth experience. The display is an LCD panel with a 90.5 percent screen-to-body ratio and it is covered with Gorilla Glass 5. Since this is an LCD and not an OLED panel, the X3 SuperZoom features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner – also seen on the X50 5G as well as the Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro.
Front and rear cameras
For photography experience, the Realme X3 SuperZoom is one of the best smartphones. It has four rear cameras that include a Samsung GW1 64MP f/1.8 primary camera, an 8MP periscope lens with 5X optical zoom and optical image stabilization (to ensure blur-free shots when capturing images from a distance), an 8MP f/2.3 ultrawide angle camera with a 119-degree field of view; and a 2MP 4CM macro camera. The phone has a 60x SuperZoom mode that helps you get closer to objects. There is a starry mode too for taking long-exposure shots of the stars as well as UIS video stabilization, UIS Max Video Stabilization, Super Nightscape 4.0, and many more. On the front, the Realme X3 SuperZoom features dual selfie cameras inside a hole-punch. The primary selfie camera on the Realme X3 SuperZoom has a resolution of 32MP while the secondary is an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera.
Processor, battery, and software
For the processor, Realme has arrived with the Snapdragon 855 Plus instead of the more recent Snapdragon 865 and this is most likely to avoid the high cost of the 5G modem on Qualcomm’s latest mobile platform. This also means that the Realme X3 SuperZoom will not come with 5G support and is targetted at users who want great value and performance but not necessarily 5G. In terms of storage, the smartphone has a 256GB UFS 3.0 storage along with Host Performance Booster (HPB) and Turbo Write for faster transfer rates. Thes features also allow the X3 SuperZoom to perform better than the Realme X2 Pro, which comes with the same chipset.
The Realme X3 SuperZoom comes with a 4,200mAh battery and supports 30W Dart 3.0 fast charging. The company claims that this charging technology allows the phone to charge fully in about 55 minutes. It has liquid cooling to keep the phone from overheating when playing games. It runs Android 10 with Realme UI out of the box with features such as Game Space and Game Assistant. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual SIM support, Hi-res Audio, and Dolby Atmos.
