Huawei Honor View 20 (also known as Honor V20) is a flagship smartphone which has launched with 48MP Back Camera. On the other side, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is a budget-friendly device that is also titled with 48MP Rear Cam. Should you buy the Redmi Note 7 over Honor View 20 on camera basis?
Think for a moment. Could 48MP camera make your image quality better? Our answer is only the high Mega-pixel resolution is not enough to improve image quality. It doesn’t mean you’re no need for a higher mega-pixel lens. Higher pixels define the picture resolution from a printing perspective or how much big a picture print you can capture. In other words, the 48MP Camera lens means you can shoot an image containing 48 million pixels to describe each element in the picture while it gets zooming in. Therefore, you can get a closer look after capturing a shot without losing standard image quality. It’s really good, but still not enough for a worthy camera experience.
Both Huawei and Xiaomi smartphones have used to equip the same camera hardware technology (48MP). How would you come to know which one is better for a valuable camera experience? Read on to get the answers.
48MP Vs 48MP (Photography Camera Comparison)
Xiaomi Redmi No 7 has a good approach to the Honor View 20 for photography results, but the Huawei smartphone is overall better for shooting. Both devices have the same Sony IMX 48MP Cameras and F/1.8 aperture even the 0.8µm lens size is similar, but AI algorithm support, AI Beauty, Super Night View mode, Super Slow-mo, and other software-aided features boost the Honor V20 camera performance. However, Redmi Note 7 supports only AI beauty. As we know a camera smartphone performs well due to both good hardware and software technologies. Huawei smartphone focuses on both whereas the Xiaomi affordable handset improved the camera hardware only.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is excellent for its image quality within its budget range. With the Redmi device, you can meet amazing photography results. But if you want to enjoy 2160 pixels video recording at 30fps, Super Slow-mo at 960fps, and Super Night View mode, then the Huawei Honor View 20 is a better choice.
The Huawei Honor View 20 has a secondary 3D ToF sensor next to the 48MP lens which helps it to achieve nice depth sensing details, real-time scene recognition, good low-light shots, and natural color saturation. The Redmi Note 7 has a secondary 5MP (f/2.4) depth sensor also, which can capture nice blurred pictures but doesn’t perform like the 3D lens one in the Honor V20.
25MP Vs 13MP (Selfie Comparison)
When it comes to Selfie performance, the Honor V20 offers better quality, sharper, brighter and more vibrant selfies. The Honor View V20 boasts an in-screen 25MP Front Camera having f/2.0 aperture, HDR support, and AI Wisdom Technology. However, Redmi Note 7 gets a 13MP Front Camera having also f/2.2 aperture, HDR mode, and AI Beauty. Both enable FHD video calling. The lower pixels resolution and the lesser wide aperture make the Xiaomi smartphone selfie performance poor in low light conditions. The Camera Interface in the Huawei smartphone is more advanced than the Xiaomi device.
Display and Design Comparison
The Honor View 20 and Redmi Note 7 both look gorgeous. The Huawei V20 has a 6.4in Infinity Display with a Punch Hole In-Screen Selfie Camera at the top-left corner of the front. However, the Xiaomi Note 7 has a 6.3in Full View Display having tiny water-drop Notch on top.

The Huawei smartphone used to empower 7nm CPU, HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset accompanied with Dual NPU (Two Neural Processing Units for AI Machine Learning Tasks), Octa-core processor with up to 2.6GHz clock rate and Mali-G76 MP10 GPU (for the best graphics). The Honor View 20 boosted with CPU and GPU Turbo software technologies, which make double of the overall performance. You can experience smooth gaming and multitasking with 6GB RAM. It has 128GB Storage for the standard model to save all you need.
Talking about the Redmi Note 7, it comes with 14nm CPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, Octa-core processor of 2.2GHz clock rate, Adreno 512 GPU, and 3GB RAM. The combo offers powerful performance for entry level, but not for the high-end level as that of the Huawei device. The 32GB internal memory of the base model is also insufficient.
MicroSD card slot is available in the Xiaomi smartphone, but not for the Huawei handset. The Honor V20 exclusive model offers 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM; however, the Redmi Note 7 premium model goes up with 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM.
4000mAh Vs 4000mAh Battery (Endurance Test)

This is all due to 7nm CPU which minimizes and saves 30% battery consumption than the one (14nm CPU) in the Redmi smartphone. Both devices support the Fast Charging option. The Huawei smartphone is rapid fast for recharging 55% life within 30 minutes while the Xiaomi smartphone takes a bit long.
