Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 865 and 765 Chipsets with 5G connectivity

Qualcomm has officially launched the new chipsets with 5G support for Android Smartphones. The US chipmaker has launched the Snapdragon 865 as a successor of SDM 855 while the Snapdragon 765/765 5G is a new chipset with integrated support for 5G. The phone manufacturers will use SDM 865 for flagship devices, whereas the upper mid-range phones will be power by the SDM 765/765 5G.

The Snapdragon 865 is a more powerful chipset, and it supports dual SA and NSA, also supports both mmWave and Sub-6 GHz 5G networks with improved bandwidth on Sub-6GHz. On the other hand, the SDM 765 (5G) has offered download speeds of up to 3.7Gbits/s, and it also provides advanced AI processing and selects Snapdragon Elite Gaming Experience. The company promises the SDM 865 offers improved fingerprint technology (3D Sonic Max), and it also allows the user to authenticate with two fingers.

Oppo and Xiaomi have confirmed that these will launch SDM 865 powered phones in the first quarter of 2020, and the Motorola also confirmed that it would also unveil flagship mobile phones next year. Moreover, the Xiaomi Redmi K30 and Oppo Reno 3 will have Snapdragon 765 5G Chipset.
