Samsung was one of the first smartphone manufacturers to adopt a curved display with its Galaxy series. Since then, various other OEMs have also included the technology, but it seems like Samsung plans on taking it a step further with its new patent. The new patent from Samsung reveals a new display technology that includes curved edges but on all four corners.

The South Korean tech giant had originally filed a patent back in July 2019 in China at the SNIPA (Chinese National Intellectual Property Administration). This was finally published on 24th March 2020 and is now also included in the Global Design Database of the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office). Thanks to LetsGoDigital, we now have 3D renders of the patented display technology. Looking at the images, the most striking aspect is the curved display extending beyond the top and lower bezels. Rather, only the corners now have bezels and are barely from the front. The Samsung device features an overall unique and futuristic design as well with a rounded corner. These corners that feature the metallic frame may also serve the purpose of durability, helping the smartphone survive falls.
