Last month, ZDNet Korea reported that Samsung is planning to equip the Galaxy Note 20 with its in-house Exynos 992 chipset. Thought to be based on a 6nm manufacturing process, the website has now updated its previous statement. Citing sources within the semiconductor industry, ZDNet Korea now claims that the Exynos 992 will be based on a 5 nm process instead. The Exynos 992 will feature ARM's new Cortex-A78 and Mali-G78 cores. According to other rumors, Qualcomm has chosen these cores for its upcoming Snapdragon 875 SoC, too.
ZDNet Korea adds that it expects Samsung to launch Snapdragon 865 versions of the Galaxy Note 20, too. Based on ARM's predictions, the Cortex-A78 will offer upwards of 20% "sustained performance gains" over the Cortex-A77, on which Samsung built the Exynos 990. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 would appear to have a 4,300 mAh battery too. According to a listing on the China Compulsory Certification (3C) database, the Galaxy Note 20 has been tested with a 4,170 mAh cell. As SamMobile suggests, however, this value represents the battery's rated capacity. The Samsung Note 10 Plus has a battery with a rated capacity of 4,170 mAh, which Samsung claims has a typical capacity of 4,300 mAh. Hence, it would seem likely that the Galaxy Note 20 would have a 4,300 mAh too.
