Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra unveiled with a 6.67-inch display and 120W fast charging

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra (Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition) is the latest smartphone to join Xiaomi's Mi 10 lineup. The company launched the smartphone at a virtual event today to mark its 10th anniversary. Mi 10 Ultra price starts at CNY 5,299 for the base 8GB + 128GB variant. The phone will also be sold in 8GB + 256GB variant at CNY 5,599. The 12GB + 256GB and 16GB + 512GB variants of the phone will retail at CNY 5,999 and CNY 6,999. Xiaomi says Mi 10 Ultra will be offered in Obsidian Black, Mercury Silver, and in a Transparent Edition. The phone will go on sale beginning August 16 in China.

Design and display

Talking about the design, the Mi 10 Ultra comes with an all-glass body with a curved back panel and a quad-camera setup in a vertical arrangement. Towards the front, it has a 6.67-inch FullHD+ AMOLED curved panel with a punch-hole cutout on the top-left for the front-facing camera. The display offers up to 120Hz refresh rate and is HDR10+ certified. This is an upgrade over the 90Hz panel aboard the Mi 10 Pro. The display panel also boasts a 2340 x 1080-pixel resolution and Delta E <1, JNCD < 0.63.

Performance and OS

It is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR 5 RAM. There is also up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage onboard. According to Xiaomi, Mi 10 Ultra comes with VC liquid cooling, multi-layer graphite, thermal sensor array, and Graphene for effective temperature management of the phone. Mi 10 Ultra runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 10 OS. Furthermore, Xiaomi has included Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, and the usual set of connectivity options in the phone. Another standout feature of the Mi 10 Ultra is the super-fast charging speed. The phone has a 4,500mAh battery that supports 120W wired fast charging that will take just 23 minutes to fully charge the battery. Additionally, the phone also supports 50W wireless fast charging, enabling full charge in just 40 minutes. Other features of the Mi 10 Ultra include an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers, USB Type-C, and NFC. In the popular AnTuTu benchmark, Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra scores 660,000 points.

Cameras

Let’s talk about the camera setup. The Quad camera setup on the rear houses a primary 48-megapixel camera with a 1/1.32-inch sensor, Optical Image Stabilization, and f/1.85 aperture. There is a 48 Megapixel Periscope Zoom camera with 10X Optical Zoom and up to 120X Digital Zoom. There is OIS for this Periscope camera as well. The third camera is a 12 Megapixel telephoto lens with 2X Optical Zoom and finally, there is a 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter with 128-degree Field Of View. There is support for 8K video recording with not only the primary camera but also the 48MP Periscope camera. Also, the camera of Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra got a DxOMark rating of 130, which is the highest so far. There are phase detection autofocus and optical stabilization. On the front, the phone houses a 20-megapixel selfie shooter.
