MediaTek introduced Helio G80 gaming SoC for mid-range smartphones. It is a 12nm chipset paired with an Octa-core processor. Two cores are Cortex-A75 running on 2.0GHz frequency, while the other six cores are Cortex A55 having a 1.8GHz clock rate. Helio G80 brings alongside a 950GHz Mali-G52 GPU for graphics acceleration. The newer chip supports Hyper Engine Game technology and Voice on Wake-up gesture. MediaTek promises Helio G80 to deliver a smooth gameplay experience on LTE + WiFi connectivity to play battle games across different devices and regions. We expect at least a 10% increase in performance by MediaTek Helio G80 over G70, whether you play PUBG, Fortnite, Call of Duty, or Asphalt Nitro 8.

Not only that, MediaTek Helio G80 brings some improved camera aspects too such as Camera Control Unit, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC) technology, and smoother video recording up to 240fps.

Unfortunately, the chipmaker did not reveal which upcoming smartphone is getting G80. We anticipate Xiaomi could be the first to bring this in a Mi or Redmi smartphone, as it did in the past. Maybe, Poco F2 will be the first to receive it. Right now, Poco X2 with SD700-series is going to launch tomorrow. Anyways, whatever the smartphone will get it, we will let you know as early as possible.
