Design

Samsung A8 2018 is fabricated with aluminum. The body of smartphone is smooth and proportional. It is 149.2 mm tall, 70.6 mm wide and 8.4 mm thick. The gadget weighs 172 grams. There is a 5.6-inch bezel less screen covered with gorilla glass 4 to get rid from scratches. Dual selfie cameras are placed next to the speaker. Notification LED and Proximity sensor are available too. Some sensors are present below the screen in order to overview, go back or go to home.

The top side is equipped with secondary mic-pin hole and memory card tray while at the bottom a USB C port is set alongside primary mic-pin hole and earphone jack. The SIM card tray and Volume keys are available on the left side whereas the Power key is embedded on the right side of handset. Fingerprint scanner is moved to the back of device where it is easier to reach. A LED flash sits beside a rear camera lens.

Display

Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) gets Super AMOLED 18.5:9 display which is much pretty and gives ultimate cinematic experience but the overall size of front has slightly decreased to 5.6 inches as compared to the 5.7 inches display of the predecessor, Galaxy A7 2017. The resolution is upgraded to 1080 x 2220 pixels therefore you can watch brighter movies and images. The Always-on display feature is installed there as well. Samsung A8 2018 delivers the vibrant pictures yet in sharp daylight. The color saturation is also very good.

Software

Sadly, the new Galaxy A8 2018 comes with Android OS v7.1.1 (Nougat) which is not latest and was launched in 2016. Well, the Android 7.1.1 runs smoothly and its performance is too good but lots of new features are absent, which are available in latest Android 8.0 (Oreo).

Photography and Selfie performance

Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) has a 16MP camera, the same one which was present in the predecessor, but this time it arrives with a wider aperture of f/1.7 which means the handset captures more light for brighter images and pictures. It can record FHD videos even in dark with the assist of LED flashlight.

The Galaxy A8 2018 having dual 16MP + 8MP selfie snappers with the same f/1.9 aperture to offer you to shoot perfect beautiful selfies, and then share them with family and friends. It gives also bokeh effect. You can make splendid video calls with ease. The selfie shooters are reliable and quick responsive. It brings Live Focus, beauty mode, some new stickers and filters.

Chipset, CPU and Memory

The Galaxy A8 (2018) is powered by 14nm Exynos 7885 chipset which is made by Samsung itself. The chip is aimed for mid rangers to support Bluetooth 5.0, faster LTE bands, USB C, dual cameras, powerful CPU and fast charging. The Exynos 7885 is fine for this device but it does not provide much smoother performance. The graphics are beautiful thanks to Mali G71.

There is an Octa core processor in which six cores run at 1.6GHz speed and two cores clock at 2.2GHz frequency. The processor is enough faster to deliver you good efficiency for gaming and multi-tasking. It is aided by 4GB RAM which shares the multi-tasking burden of processor and enables you to play heavy games smoothly. Samsung A8 2018 is available in 32GB and 64GB storage variants and you can select according to your necessity. MicroSD slot is dedicated and offers you to get more memory to save huge data.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) is energized with a 3000mAh battery which can last you through your day with fair use but it is not enough for continues heavy usage. The predecessor Galaxy A7 had 3300mAh battery which means the A8 2018’s battery has downgraded. Anyway, the good fact about device is it supports fast charging which helps user to recharge power immediately.

Price

Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) Price is $500 whereas the Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) Price is $600 which is slightly expensive but not as the flagship smartphones.

Conclusion:

Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8+ (2018) have bezel less display, faster connectivity, powerful hardware, and IP68 certification, and these are the first one by Samsung to get dual selfie cameras so it is too good if you want to buy either of new A series smartphones but you have to pay a reasonable price, too.
