Samsung Decides to Discontinue Galaxy Note 7 Permanently

Samsung issued a press release and advised Galaxy Note 7 users to turn off all original and replaced units. Now the company took a decision to permanently suspend the Note 7 and asked retailers and global partners to stop exchange and sales of the device.

Yesterday, the firm stated that, “We stay dedicated to operational carefully with suitable regulatory authorities to take all essential steps to resolve the situation.”

The Galaxy Note 7 was launched back in August, but it couldn’t perform well and several units exploded worldwide. Samsung officially recalled the Note 7 after 35 cases, the device caught on fire in flights as well. Different airlines and airport authorities called for an official ban on usage of the device in several countries.

The company took different measures to solve the situation and re-launched the device with green batteries indicator. Samsung recommended the old Note 7 units from charging beyond 60% so people who hadn’t replaced their device wouldn’t overcharge them. Currently there are no official words on how the company will proceed further with existing Galaxy Note 7 device and it will deal with clients who have awaiting orders.

In addition, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 customers can replace their device with Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and the price difference will be refunded. You can also contact your retailer for full refund. The company’s website declares that “customers who exchange a Note7 device will also receive a $25 gift card, in-store credit, in-store accessory credit or bill credit from select carrier retail outlets”. All conditions apply on all original and replacement units.

Moreover, the firm announced its Exynos 7270 chip for wearables, the chip is made by using 14nm technology.
