Sirin Labs Launches Solarin Privacy Focused Smartphone with $14000 Price Tag

In smartphone world, privacy is a topic of apprehension, lately BlackBerry and Apple has been more cognizant about their devices and users privacy. Silent Circle was one of the firms that released its privacy focused Blackphone which was restricted to North America only. Today, a novel mobile maker Sirin Labs launched its privacy focused Solarin smartphone which is targeted to exclusive section.

As for specifications, the Solarin smartphone packs a 5.5-inch IPS LED display 1440x2560 pixels with resolution. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and has 4GB of RAM with 128GB storage. The smartphone features 23.8 MP primary camera, and 8MP front facing camera. The Solarin supports 4G LTE, Qualcomm Quick Charge, and has a 4040mAh battery. The company claims that it used metal matrix composite chassis which integrates titanium panes for structural potency. The Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protects the curved display against scratches.


The Solarin runs Android 5.1 Lollipop that is exclusively customized for high security. For privacy, the smartphone features mobile threat protection application from security expert Zimperium. To integrate chip-to-chip 256-bit AES encryption, the company aligned with KoolSpan. On the backside of the device there is a Security Switch, when flipped it triggers shielded modes where users can send messages and make calls that are completely encrypted.

 

The Solarin is priced at approximately GBP 9,500 (roughly $14,000) inclusive of taxes; the device is available to buy online. The device can also be purchased from its store in Mayfair, London and Harrods, Knightsbridge from June 1, and June 30 respectively. With this price tag Solarin joined association of top smartphone like Vertu Signature Touch for Bentley which was launched this year with price tag of $9000 (roughly INR 600000).


Some reports say that the Solarin is world’s expensive Android smartphone which features valuable metal body covered with gems. The firm says that the smartphone will be offered in diverse variants such as Fire Black Carbon Leather with Diamond-like Carbon, Fire Black Carbon Leather with Titanium, Crystal White Carbon Leather with Diamond-like Carbon, and Fire Black Carbon Leather with Yellow Gold. Though, the pricing details of above variants in not revealed officially yet. The mobile maker claims that Solarin is made up of over 2500 internal mechanisms and has been developed after two years of R&D at amenities in Tel Aviv and Sweden.
