Huawei Foldable 5G Smartphone, the Mate X has announced at Barcelona show. The Chinese mobile brand is proud of developing 5G infrastructure and their first Mate X 5G smartphone is powered by Balong 5000 modem + Kirin 980 chipset (working together). The Balong 5000 is the world’s first 7nm chip modem after Qualcomm X50.

Huawei Mate X unveiled with 2x AMOLED Displays combined with a hinge between them. Hinge goes invisible in tablet mode where R&D engineers performed very well. It is the world’s thinnest phablet with awesome 5.4mm dimension when unfolded and 11mm when folded. It is weighty having 295 grams.

The screen measures 8.0inches diagonally when unfolded while 6.6inches when folded. There are two display forms; the Smartphone mode offers 1148x2480p resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio whereas the Tablet mode gives a 2200x2480p resolution. If you compare the Mate X with Samsung Fold, the first one looks better for reading, watching and browsing for a convenient bigger screen.

Multitasking is easier with the new Display Interaction feature which lets the first screen working as a primary one to show stuff and allows a user to expand the other tasks on a secondary screen. Huawei copied this feature from Nubia X by ZTE.

Huawei Mate X is also the first to get 55W SuperCharge that is claimed to fill up 85% battery life within 30 minutes. A 4500mAh powerhouse is tucked to keep lights on for a busy working day.

There are three rear cams but no selfie shooter for tablet mode (as you can see no notch or punch hole in a display), though optical resolution has not yet revealed. Reports are they could be 48MP + 16MP + 8MP Leica Optics.

Huawei Mate X comes with 8GB RAM and 512GB Internal Storage, but no microSD slot. Android 9.0 (Pie) is pre-installed with a custom interface. Fingerprint Sensor is side-mounted for convenient unlock.

The Price of Mate X is $2300 and now again Europe is the first market to get this new MWC innovative smartphone. The pre-orders will start next month (March). However, the Shipment will begin in May 2019.

Huawei is concerned for Super Power markets as the US, Canada and Australia have blocked the Chinese tech equipment (especially Huawei and ZTE) and they won’t let Huawei team establish 5G there. How the Mate X, a Huawei 5G smartphone will be successful in those countries? The answer for right now is mysterious.
