Apple might have difficulty with its 3D touch on OLED

Apple devices have always been cherished by their fans for the various features the smartphones have to offer. One of the more unique features of the iPhone is the 3D touch.

By adding another dimension to the touch functionality, various apps have used this feature to offer a new feeling for the users. The 3D touch allows the following

1.     Quick Actions

2.     Peek and Pop

3.     Pressure sensitivity

All these features have been made possible with the use of the LED backlight of the device’s LCD. By measuring the degree of deformation under the pressure of the glass transmits the intensity of the touch and the transmitted information is then sent for processing and the appropriate output is displayed for user interpretation.

As we all now know that the Apple’s new iPhone 8 is to feature an OLED instead of the LCD. This means that all the function of the LED backlight has been made redundant with the introduction of this new technology. It also means that Apple won’t be able to use the compression mechanism to get the 3D touch functionality and will have to find new ways to bring about its unique feature to the newest device.

According to Apple’s Financial Analyst Mr. Ming Chi-Kuo stated that Apple might switch from the currently applied flexible printed-circuit board (FPCB) to film sensors as they are more sensitive to pressure and will be able to provide a better response on the OLED.

Regardless the hurdles the company faces, we all know that it will be able to come on top of them and bring us the best the technology has to offer. We eagerly await arrival of the new iPhone 8 very soon with all its grandeur and glamor.
