Apple will ship up to 80 million 5G iPhones this year

Apple is getting set to launch its first 5G smartphone series. Apple’s first 5G smartphone series is coming almost 18 months after the commercialization of 5G. Presently, there are many 5G phones in the market already. The likes of Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, and others already have multiple 5G smartphones. And, now Apple is also joining this race.

According to the report by Bloomberg, Apple has ordered its suppliers to manufacture at least 75 million 5G-enabled iPhones as it anticipates 80 million shipments of its next-gen iPhones this year. Apple will reportedly hold an event in late October where it will unveil the iPhone 12 series. The source also claims that alongside the iPhone 12 lineup Apple will also launch the new iPad Air and two smartwatches - one successor to the Watch Series 5 and another a replacement for the Series 3. Bloomberg also suggests Apple will introduce a new dark blue color for the Pro variants, which will replace the Midnight Green shade we've seen on the iPhone 11 Pro. The 6.7" Pro variant will also come with the LIDAR camera that debuted in this year's iPad Pro. The source claims that Apple will release the stable build of iOS 14 this month.

Recent reports have revealed that Apple will release four iPhones – iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max this year. All these four devices will have support for 5G. There are also reports that all four iPhones will use OLED displays. The standard iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will have dual rear cameras and 4GB RAM, while the Pro models should come with triple rear camera setup. The Pro models will also come with 6GB of RAM.
