Gionee launched its latest flagship S8 at MWC 2016 on Monday. Gionee also unveiled its new logo and tagline “Make Smiles”.
The device packs in 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) AMOLED display. The smartphone comes with 0.75mm bezels and 74.9mm width. Gionee says that is one of the narrowest widths for a 5.5-inch phone. Gionee S8 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. It has a 8-megapixel front camera and 16 MP rare camera that comes with basic features such as LED flash, laser autofocus and multiple advanced features like beauty effect, text recognition (OCR) support (English and Chinese), time laps and slow motion etc. A 3000mAh battery is used to keep the lights on. The mobile runs Amigo 3.2 OS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
One of the prominent features of the smartphone is 3D Touch, though the feature has already been used in iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. We expect that the 3D touch will work similar to iPhone 6s. Gionee claims that the mobile can intellect 3 levels of force, including touch to select an app, press to run the app, and tap to preview the content of an app.
Another remarkable feature is a metal body which makes the device appealing and chic. The company says that the Gionee S8 Dual SIM mobile comes with Dual WhatsApp and Dual WeChat features, which will allow users to make and use two accounts on WhatsApp and WeChat. It sports dual 4G, FDD, and TDD, 7 modes and 14 bands and this feature will make Gionee S8 perfect device for global roaming.
Gionee S8 will come in Silver, Gold, Rose Gold color options. The device carries EUR 449 price tag and it will be available for purchase by the end of the March.
