Finally, Google launched its Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones. The Launch Event took place in New York, USA. This time, Google Pixel smartphones used to equip more reliable HTC hardware technology which is currently acquired by Google. These device have a Google Assistant UI which is enough smart to assist you in accomplishing tasks easily.
The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have customizable active edges to squeeze for shortcuts, just like the HTC U12+. The Squeezing sides also make it easier to call the Google Assistant.
Pre-orders, Pricing and Shipment
Recently, Google has made official through a promotional email that the Potential Pixel Buyers can pre-order Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL right after today’s announcement. All in all, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL pre-orders are starting from October 10. The sales will start from October 19. Google has not revealed shipment details, but following the traditional pattern the 2018 Pixel smartphones will be started shipping by the end of October or in early November 2018.
Design, Display and Body Colors
Design wise, Google’s Pixel 3 and its XL model are slightly different as compared to the predecessors. Google Pixel 3 has no notch while the bigger version gets a water-drop notch. Both devices are IP68 rated to ensure dust and water resistance up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. There is a large screen, dual selfie cam and a Single Primary Camera with a Fingerprint Scanner on the back of Google 2018 Pixel smartphones. The USB-C port is available at the bottom, but it has ditch the 3.5 mm audio jack.
The Pixel 3 has smaller bezels, 145.6 x 68.2 x 7.9 mm dimensions, and 5.4 inches FHD+ screen, OLED Display with 18:9 aspects ratio and 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution. On the other hand, Google Pixel 3 XL is getting a top-notch, 6.2 inches QHD+ screen, OLED Display, 18.5:9 aspects ratio, 1440 x 2960 pixels resolution and 158 x 76.6 x 7.9 mm dimensions. Both the Pixel devices are covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 from both sides (front and rear).
In terms of body colors, there is a Clearly White color variant of the pixel family with a mint-colored button on the right. Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are launched in three colors Clearlu White, Just Black and Not Pink. The Not Pink is an entirely new color edition in the pixel series.
Google Pixel 3 and its XL model launched with same optics. There is a Dual Selfie Camera setup and a Single Rear Optics Lens instead a Dual Rear Camera setup. It is a big humiliation for a 2018 flagship smartphone, but perhaps this time Google wants to surprise selfie lovers. Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have the same previous 12.2MP (f/1.8) Rear Camera, OIS, dual PDAF, laser AF, dual LED flash, panorama and HDR. You can record 4k videos as well as FHD ones at 30fps and 60fps respectively. The main upgrade is there in software, The AI Wisdom Camera Technology which lets you capture some best special moments. There is a night mode in the newly launched Camera interface for more splendid and brighter night shots.
Coming to the front, there are Dual 8MP + 8MP Front Cameras. The first one has f/1.8 aperture while the second telephoto lens having f/2.2 aperture. You are getting a “Super Selfie” mode as well. Google is offering more authentic facial recognition system for the fastest and secure Face Unlock.
Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are powered by the most powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and Adreno 630 GPU. It has an Octa-core processor with a clock rate of 2.8GHz. Unfortunately, there is still 4GB RAM for standard edition of Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Both are available in 64GB and 128GB Storage variants and you will find no microSD card slot. We hope a 256GB model will be launched soon.
Speaking to battery segment, the interesting thing is Wireless Charging Option for the first time presented by the Pixel smartphones. Google Pixel 3 is armed with a 2960mAh battery while the Pixel 3 XL is empowered with 3430mAh battery. Both handsets support Fast Charging.
Software and Connectivity
Google Pixel 3 and its XL model come with Android stocks. There is the latest Android OS v9.0 (Pie) with more beautiful interface, optimized performance and some additional settings. Like the other Pixel family, you will receive security patches and Android updates regularly. The Android 9.0 (Pie) also brings 28 live new background wallpapers for the Pixel 3 and 3 XL. So, you can download fresh wallpapers and use them easily.
In terms of connectivity, Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL support Nano-SIM, 3G and 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, and USB Type C reversible connector. Unluckily, you will have to switch another smartphone in early 2019 for the 5G network.
