Meizu Releases new Ubuntu Smartphone at MWC 2016

Meizu is teasing its users with Ubuntu announcement, Ubuntu device will be launched at MWC 2016, which is after a week. Yesterday a teaser was posted on company’s social media which highlights Valentine’s day and new device message at the same time “Love U” in ‘Love Ubuntu’.

Teaser exposed 22 February date for announcement of the device. We expect that the company will unveil its latest handset which will run Ubuntu, once again people will experience device from their current FlymeOS line-up. There is no authentic information that what would be the name of the device, but Chinese social media teaser suggests that it will be a variant of Meizu MX5 Pro. 


This is not the first time when  the Chinese smartphone maker will release an Ubuntu powered mobile, at MWC 2014 the company unveiled Ubuntu MX3 and at MWC 2015 the company showed off Meizu MX4 Ubuntu.The device will support a USB Type-C connector, it has a 4GB RAM, 64GB eMMC storage. The smartphone is powered by Exynos 7420 octa-core processor,  which makes it prime convergence flagship.


It is expected that the company will enhance hardware, high contrast screen, and camera section in upcoming device. The smartphone will come with many admirable features as previous Ubuntu devices do have. When it comes to the price there is no official information about the price but we expect that Chinese manufacturer will price its device according to specifications.
