Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 778G 5G Chipset

Today (18-May-21), Qualcomm has expanded its 7-series portfolio with the launch of a new Snapdragon 778G 5G Chipset based on 6nm process technology. According to a well-known tipster from China, Honor 50 could be the first phone to feature the Snapdragon 778G 5G mobile platform.

The Snapdragon 778G 5G comes with a Cortex-A78 custom-made Kryo 670 CPU that tops at 2.4GHz. The Chipset includes Adreno 642L graphics, which brings support for Vulkan 1.1, OpenGL 3S 3.1, OpenCL 2.0 FP, HDR10+, and HDR10. It supports up to Full HD+ resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate, up to 10-bit color depth, and Rec2020 color gamut. For enhanced gaming, it comes with Snapdragon Elite Gaming features.

The Snapdragon 778G SoC offers a triple 14-bit Spectra 570 ISP. It supports up to 192MP single camera, up to 36MP + 22MP dual-camera setup, and up to 22MP triple camera setup. For 5G connectivity, it features Snapdragon X53 5G modem-RF system that provides a peak download speed of 3.3Gbps. It supports mmWave (400Mhz bandwidth with 2×2 MIMO) and sub-6 GHz (100Mhz bandwidth with 4×4 MIMO) 5G spectrums. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, dual-frequency GPS, USB 3.1, and USB-C. For security, it comes with support for Qualcomm 3D Sonic and 3D Sonic Max fingerprint sensors.
