Redmi 8A Dual announced with 5000mAh Battery and Dual Cameras

Rumors did not come true, and Redmi unveiled Redmi 8A Dual instead of rumored Redmi 9A in an event in India today (February 11). The elder sibling of Redmi 8A comes with camera improvements and an extra lens. The company used it to call “Desh Ka Dumdaar Smartphone” (translation: Country’s Powerful Smartphone). The Redmi 8A Dual Price in India starts at INR 6,499 that translates into $91. As rumored, it is not a rival smartphone to the newly-launched Realme C3.

The Redmi 8A Dual sales will start on February 18 at Amazon India and Mi official stores. The shipment for the latest Redmi smartphone will kick off by the end of this month, February 2020. Redmi is not alone today, and Samsung is also holding the Unpacked Event in the evening for the Galaxy S20 lineup and Galaxy Z Flip.

Talking about key specs, Redmi 8A Dual sports a 6.22inches HD+ Display with a dot notch on top. It is a splash-resistant with a Gorilla Glass 5 on front. The smartphone gets two photography snappers as follows, 13MP (f/1.8) and 2MP depth sensor. Redmi 8A Dual added AI Scene Detection and AI Portrait Mode. The selfie camera is 8MP (f/2.0), the same one present in last year’s Redmi 8A. The new Redmi smartphone supports Google Lens too. Users will rely on Face Unlock since there is no Fingerprint Scanner, unfortunately.

Redmi 8A Dual runs on Android 9 OS, Snapdragon 439 SoC, and a 5000mAh battery that can last up to two days. You can top up battery life again quickly with an 18W Fast Charge. In terms of memory, Redmi 8A Dual arrives in the same RAM and ROM configuration as of vanilla Redmi 8A - 2GB/32GB, 3GB/32GB, and 4GB/64GB. The available color options for Redmi 8A Dual are Sea Blue, Sky White, and Midnight Gray.
