Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi had unveiled its latest Redmi K series smartphone called the Redmi K30 5G in China last year in December. The smartphone arrived as the world’s first smartphone to use Qualcomm’s latest mid-range chipset called the Snapdragon 765G and also was the first handset from Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi to flaunt 5G connectivity. There was a standard Redmi K30 4G variant as well, which arrived in India as the POCO X2. Now, the latest leak suggests that the Xiaomi sub-brand might also be working on an affordable model called the Redmi K30i. Notably, the only difference between the Redmi K30 and Redmi K30i will be the main camera's resolution.

According to the report by ITHome, the Redmi K30i will feature a 48-megapixel primary camera, instead of the 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor packed inside the vanilla Redmi K30. However, there is no word if the 48-megapixel camera on Redmi K30i will employ a Sony sensor or an ISOCELL Bright GM-series sensor from Samsung. Furthermore, multiple Weibo posts claim that the Redmi K30i will be out later this month as the cheapest 5G phone. As for the other specs, the upcoming handset is expected to have a 6.67 inch IPS LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. There will be a 4,500 mAh battery and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
