According to Korean Herald’s new report, Apple made a deal with Samsung for OLED displays so the Korean Company will deliver 100 million OLED displays to Apple in the start of 2017. It means Apple is planning to jump on OLED screens probably which will be used in iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.
Reportedly the agreement between both mobile makers is worth approximately $2.59 billion and it is expected that both companies will maintain the agreement at least for three years. The report mentions that Samsung will provide 5.5 inch 100 million OLED panels but there is no information about 4.7 inch displays.
However the news is not new previously we heard that Samsung and LG will provide OLED panels to Apple and it was expected to happen in 2018. But this time the news indicates that we would see OLED based device probably in 2017. According to KGI's analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will use 5.8 inch OLED display instead of 5.5 inch screen in its 2017 year model. There is much time to find out the facts but we hope that we would see something new and interesting by Apple.
The cause of using OLED panels could be to save the cost because production cost of LCD is high than OLED. Apple used OLED display in its Smart watch which offers brighter view in Sunlight conditions. Rumors also say that Apple issued a request to LG for manufacturing OLED displays as a contingency. But, till the date Samsung has been Apple’s key partner in manufacturing panels for iPhone.
