Huawei and Xiaomi will use Samsung’s foldable display panels for their next-generation foldable phones. Huawei had announced Mate X with a foldable panel from China’s BOE, while Xiaomi’s Mi Mix Alpha also used a foldable panel from another Chinese display maker – Visionox. According to the latest report from Etnews, Samsung will supply foldable smartphone panels to Huawei and Xiaomi. The Visionox’s foldable panel for Mi Mix Alpha wasn’t enough to provide a better experience.

Samsung has recently started developing foldable organic light-emitting diode panels for smartphones. So, it seems that the Xiaomi will talk with Samsung to supply secure foldable panels. On the other hand, Huawei initially used BOE panels for its foldable phone (Mate X). Huawei is also reportedly to use Samsung’s foldable panels for its next-generation phones. The Mate X came with BOE’s panel, but the Samsung display’s panel has better quality and durable than other foldable panels. The report also stated that the Huawei’s next foldable smartphone Mate X2 would launch in the second half of this year, and the speculations also claim that the Mate X2 will provide better viewing experience to users. Samsung is also discussing the supply of foldable OLEDs with major Chinese manufacturers after the announcement of Galaxy Fold, and it received a better response from top Chinese phone makers, including Xiaomi and Huawei. If the other Chinese phone makers like OnePlusOPPO, and Vivo mobile will launch the foldable phones, so it may be possible these brands likely to use Samsung’s foldable panels.
