Oppo R9s and Oppo R9s Plus Preview
The Oppo R9s and R9s Plus are selfie focused smartphones, both come with improved specifications at reasonable prices. The finishing of both smartphones is quite better than the predecessors Oppo R9 and Oppo R9 Plus. Both devices come with great value, stylish design, and decent camera sensor.
Oppo R9s and Oppo R9s Plus: Display and Design
The Oppo R9s packs a 5.5-inch screen while the Plus model has a 6.0 inch screen with 1080p resolution and 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 5. Display quality of both smartphones is supreme; you can enjoy games, videos and other apps on the bright display of these devices.
When it comes to the design of the Oppo R9s and Oppo R9s Plus, both smartphones have similar design and resembles to previous models. However, there are little changes on the back side, the main difference is the placement of the flash light and it is repositioned to the right side of the camera. The antenna lines are removed as well and the overall look of the devices is smooth and glossy. Oppo has managed to give an expensive looking smartphone at cheap rates with supreme specifications so Android lovers should grab the opportunity.
Oppo R9s and Oppo R9s Plus: Specifications
The Oppo R9s and Oppo R9s Plus are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset (with Adreno 506 GPU). The chipset, RAM, and storage are same and we haven't seen any improvement in this section. Both smartphones have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage via a hybrid dual-SIM slot.
A 3010 mAh non-removable battery keeps the Oppo R9s up, whereas the Plus model comes with 4000 mAh battery. Both devices offer up to two days battery but it depends on usage of the device.
Oppo R9s weights 145g and measures 153 x 74.3 x 6.58 mm, while the larger model measures 163.63 x 80.8 x 7.35 mm, and it weighs 185g. Both devices run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box which may have plans to get latest OS updates.
Oppo R9s and Oppo R9s Plus: Camera
The camera sensors of the latest smartphones and previous models are same. Oppo R9s and R9s Plus feature 16MP rear camera with f/1.7, phase detection autofocus, and LED flash. The selfie camera is improved and latest models pack a 16 MP front facing camera with f/2.0 lens. Both camera let users capture sharp, detailed, and bright pictures, the smartphones are handy for photography lovers.
Both cameras feature different modes and filters, you can use filters and make better pictures than ever before. The smartphones have Sony's IMX398 sensor with dual-focus that is 40% faster than phase detection autofocus.
Oppo R9s and Oppo R9s Plus: Battery
You might expect to see these slender phones with small batteries, but the company has powered its devices with large and efficient batteries. The standard model gets power via a 3010 mAh battery and the bigger model comes with 4000 mAh battery.
These batteries offer enough battery life so if you are average user you won't have to charge the smartphone for up to two days.
Oppo R9s and Oppo R9s Plus: Price and Release Date
The standard variant Oppo R9s will be available in China for CNY 2,799 ($415) on October 28. The device will come in gold, black, and Rose gold color options. Whereas, the Oppo R9s Plus will go on sale in December with CNY 3,499 (approximately $519) price tag.
Currently there is no information whether both devices will be available in international markets or not. The Oppo R9 was sold outside of the China as Oppo F1 Plus, but it's vague that R9s will be available in international markets as Oppo F1s or not.
