Xiaomi launched Redmi 9 series and Mi Smart Band 5 globally

Xiaomi’s ecosystem product launch event was held today. During this event, the company has unveiled Redmi 9, Redmi 9C, Redmi 9A (three smartphones), and Mi Smart Band 5. The fitness tracker is the global version of the Mi Band 5 sold in China. The three smartphones feature powerful chipsets and premium features while retaining the affordable pricing for which the budget series is known for.

Mi Smart Band 5

The new fitness tracker arrives with significant upgrades over its predecessor, the Mi Smart Band 4. The new features include a larger display, more sports modes, better heart rate measurement, and more. The smart band has a 1.1-inch AMOLED display which is 20% bigger than that of its predecessor. The fitness tracker now has 11 sports modes including home workouts such as indoor cycling, elliptical, yoga, rowing machine, and jump rope. Xiaomi says “the Mi Smart Band 5 will automatically track your jumps and will display the duration, the number of jumps, and the total calories burnt while using a skipping rope.” The PPG heart rate sensor is now up to 50% more accurate than that of the last generation. Other features of the smart band are stress management, deep breathing, and the much-awaited menstrual cycle tracking which tracks the monthly cycle of the user. Another key feature added to the device is “camera remote” which allows you to use the Mi Smart Band 5 to serve as a remote shutter button for the camera on your phone. The battery life is 14 days. The Mi Smart Band 5 will sell for €39.99 and its straps are available in six colors.

Redmi 9

The Redmi 9 features a 6.53-inch FHD+ Dot Drop display which offers an optimal visual experience. It also comes with TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. On the performance front, Redmi 9 has an optimized MediaTek Helio G80 SoC, delivering a 107% improved performance over its predecessor. The phone has a 5020 mAh battery that can support up to 18W for fast charging. The Redmi 9 comes with a quad-camera setup which includes a 13MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor. The front camera is 8MP. Redmi 9 will be available in three color options: Carbon Grey, Ocean Green, and Sunset Purple. The pricing starts at EUR 149 for the 3GB+32GB variant and EUR 169 for the 4GB+64GB variant.

Redmi 9A

This brand-new entry-level smartphone is equipped with a 6.53-inch Dot Drop display for an immersive viewing experience and a 5000mAh high-capacity battery that satisfies users who want to do more and enjoy more on their phone. Redmi 9A features MediaTek Helio G25, an octa-core gaming chipset. It also sports the AI-optimized 13MP rear camera. The Redmi 9A comes in Peacock Green, Granite Gray, and Sky Blue, with price starting at just €99.

Redmi 9C

The Redmi 9C has a 6.53-inch HD+ display with a dot drop notch. It is powered by MediaTek Helio G35 chipset that is coupled with up to 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage (that can be expanded further using a 512GB microSD card). It runs on Android 10-based MIUI 11 and it comes with a 5,000mAh battery. For photography experience, the Redmi 9C has a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 13-megapixel primary lens, a 2-megapixel macro sensor, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The Redmi 9C costs EUR 119 for 2GB + 32GB variant and EUR 139 for 3GB + 64GB variant and it is available in Midnight Gray, Sunrise Orange, and Twilight Blue colors.
